Usually doesn’t work. Me and mine broke up when was were 17 and were fwb for two years but we never could be just friends with benefits it was always more feelings involved. Now we’re back together.😂 just depends on the people

My ex and I broke up and had no contact at all for 6+ months. I got drunk one night and messaged him asking if he would be down for a casual fuck and he said he was. We were “fwb” for 7 months and then ended up just moving back in with each other. Our relationship has been amazing ever since and we’ve been together almost 3 years. 🤷🏼‍♀️

It worked out fine for me probably not as well for my ex. When he broke up with me at the time we were still best friends etc. He didn't even really have an excuse and I didn't really see it coming. I feel like it was just because we were young, and all his friends were single and partying/sleeping around, he was also becoming more dependent on drugs/struggling with his self. Either way I already went through the heartbreak/crying (we had dated at lest 3 and half years or something like that). 
I'm also very good at keeping sex and emotions seperate. So we stayed best friends and FWB and were always hanging out it was essentially no different than when we were dating. Except we (mostly him) would sleep with someone else occasionally. 7 months after he broke up with me I started talking to another guy and we became exclusive/in a relationship pretty quickly. 
This is when my ex broke down. He regretted breaking up with me, became more depressed/suicidial, wanted to get someone to fight my new bf etc. We still talked on social media for a bit (which my current bf was aware of) as I wished nothing ill on my ex and wanted him to move on and be happy. He ended up moving across the country and has a fiance and child. Though every couple of months or years when his life isn't going right he would message me with regret again. I even removed him from my social medias. I myself am still with the boyfriend I started dating after that ex nearly 7 years later.
