Do you think religion correlates with political position?

Jurckie Backhart

I’m strictly speaking of personal people I know or who I have seen in interviews. But it seems to me that MOST (not all) people that I would consider “God fearing Christians” are mostly Republican. And from what I’ve seen, a lot of their policies are “anti-handouts” which means to me that they don’t want to help people and believe that unless you work hard you don’t deserve anything. While as a lot of people who don’t strictly identify with religion or are agnostic, atheist, what have you, lean more to the left side. And are more for higher minimum wage, making it easier for immigrants to come here, helping anyone who needs it etc. I could be wrong in my assumptions though, but I’m speaking from personal experience and I just find it kind of ironic since a lot of Jesus’ teachings are about helping others and never seeing yourself as superior. What do you guys think?
