If my inlaws don't reach out, do we need to?

So I feel like my inlaws never reach out to us. They don't inquire about our baby who was just born this year. Its just use letting them know stuff. 
I honestly just want to stop trying with them. Like obviously answer if they ask. But its so one sided. I am tired enough with my new baby. I don't need to manage adults who don't want to pick up a phone or send an email

So I once asked a therapist about a situation of "reaching out" I had hit a point in my life where I was avoiding people due to my health concerns. She told me people will generally try three times then give up. So be aware of that and understand you have to communicate. Sense then I give others the three rule too. I try three times. Then I stop.

My in laws never reach out to us so we stopped contacting them. I literally didn’t see or hear from my mil for 9 of my babies 12 months and randomly she decided to come see him for his birthday?? I was floored. We let her come but he didn’t want anything to do with her and I didn’t force it. She made her choice.

Shit I don’t even try with my OWN family much less with the in-laws, if no one wants to be around me or my kids is ok, they have me and that is all they need!!! I mean if family comes over they are more than welcome but I don’t force it AT ALL 😐

Same situation here.. we have been married 5 years and in laws have come to see us once. Never ask about our 2 year old or baby on the way. Doubt we will hear from them too. It used to really bother me especially for my husband’s sake.. but it’s honestly their loss. And we have a wonderful life that we don’t need to be stressing about them all the time.

I would say no. We had this issue with my husbands cousin. She has 2 kids with her husband and during the holidays and my baby shower when I was pregnant for my son and for his 1st birthday, they always make a big of show of expressing how they want to get together but when we make the effort of putting something together they always coming up with the excuse of being busy. But yet when they have something planned i.e. kids party or last minute holiday plans and we can't make it? Oh its like the end of the world, you can't move your plans? Oh we really wanted to see you are you sure you can't come? Only when it benefits them do we ever see them. My mil just suggested to her brother for them to come down for the holidays, didn't even suggest a date or time yet and the cousins already declined saying they're too busy. So we gave up on inviting them to places. My mil still tries out of feeling obligated but we not longer give a damn🤷‍♀️

My husband’s parents have passed away but his grandmas are both still living. Neither one of them try super hard to ask about our kids, one of them is better at asking than the other. I send occasional pictures to be nice but only if I feel like it. At the end of the day it’s their loss...and honestly not my problem. Just do whatever feels right. I quit sending pictures for nearly a year because I was so aggravated that they never asked about the kids or visited.

My in laws don’t reach out to me . They will ask my husband things about me even though they all have my numbers . I won’t ignore them if they happen to text but I stopped a long time ago trying with them . So I say no you don’t have too if they aren’t putting the effort in either .

Sorry.... But they aren’t obligated to care. It would be great if they, but it seems like they have other priorities. Let them. Even if it’s sad. You don’t need to be chasing them around.

I might be wrong, but I’d say for you, no you don’t need to try. For your husband (assuming no toxic issues or past abuse) I’d say yes, he should keep trying.

So I actually cut my dad off. Especially due to his lack of interest in my life. I just had a MC, its been three months and he still hadn't reached out. To me that solidified that he didnt care. You cant force people to care. If they want to know how their grandbabies are, they would ask.
