18 month old tantrums, meltdowns???

What kind of phase is this? My 18 month old daughter, she is like supppppppper emotional. She will intentionally throw something on the ground and then have a tantrum over it, like completely melt down. She will point to something she wants and then when you give it to her, melt down to the ground  screaming and crying. What is going on??? Please please tell me I’m not the only one. fTM here.

Exactly my kid. (My first born did not act like that.) He collapses on the floor in public all the time throwing tantrums. Since covid, he's been getting slightly better. He's 2 now. He reached terrible 2s at 1 though.

Mine started around then and still going strong at almost 23 months. I usually ignore them. For tantrums over getting shoes or clothes on I tell him to stop and ask for help. He’ll then calm down and bring me what he’s needing help with.

We call it big emotions in our home. We are trying to teach our son to name how he is feeling and then fix it. By the time my husband gets home I am running away from them this week for like 5 minutes of solitude lol. Honestly I think it is a all a process of learning to communicate. My son wanted a bath last night so he put his toys in the bath, we filled it, up he tried to climb in, he had a melt down taking off his clothes. He was still crying as he entered the bathtub, Honestly clueless on why and magically he was fine after I gave him a washcloth. 
We are back in lock down in our state so this is going to be a fun four weeks together lol.

Same over here! My first child was so chill in comparison, so FTM or not, it’s a surprise! It’s just her personality though and I know it will pass. I just do my best to stay calm and ignore.
