How much should I be paying for car insurance each year? (Read description)

I have no sense of these things.

We were paying $360-380, twice a year ($720-$760), for a 2005 and a 2008 vehicle that have seen better days.

We bought a used 2014 Honda mini van this summer and just got a notification our card is going to charge soon for $1,165 “semi-annually.”

That just seems like an astronomical jump. That’s $2,300 or so per year. Does that sound right? Going to call and get a better understanding (I hardly remember now the conversation when I added the car to the plan) but just don’t have a sense of whether it’s normal.
