What would you do?

Question

I'm a college student and my mother has epilepsy, lupus, & fibromyalgia. She has recently been married but her husband is unhealthy and had a stroke. No one is helping my mom and the government is giving her a tough Time. I'm having a hard time with all this transitioning and growing up and learning to deal with bills. But my mother is my heart.  I help her in a heart beat but I have someone I love dearly saying I shouldn't be. What would you do?

Help your mom but don't get yourself so deep in hole that you can't get out of. Medical bills are not cheap and neither is college or life in general. I think you should sign her up for as much financial/medical aid as possible but I wouldn't take any money from school or stuff like that because with yours moms condition you most likely won't see that money again. And your parents want you to succeed in life not struggle to try and fix there problems. So help your mom but don't forget about your self in the process

I'm where you are too with stuff. But I'm stuck paying for all our bills and basically supporting my mum in a lot of ways. Just don't let her take advantage and rely on you too much. It makes it really hard when you find you're unable to help anymore.

I had to grow up and get two jobs and let my mom move in. She was mentally sick. It took a long ass time. But mom finally got the help she needed with doctors and the government! She's on her assistance. So take care of your momma! Help her do what she needs to do.

Help her, while also helping her to help herself. What I mean by that is to help her however you can while helping her get into (and progress through) whatever social programs/etc she can for surviving without your help. You can't be her crutch forever. But there's nothing wrong with doing it temporarily until she is on her feet with being set up through whatever programs she can get on. It's different if you're helping someone who isn't willing to apply for programs, or isn't fighting for getting approved for the help they need, and keeps leaning solely on you.

Help her but don't put yourself in unplayable debt in the process or under too much emotional stress, definitely focus on college but be there if she needs to talk and offer suggestions.

I have CFS/ME/SEID (Auto immune, closely related to fibromyalgia) and I'm currently recovering after my consultant told me it was impossible and they couldn't help. My first step was following Dr McDougall's diet recommendations which definitely increased my energy and I find that when I get lazy with food the negative change is immediate so I'm sticking with it. My second thing was signing up with an online recovery programme for CFS (I think they accept fibro too) by Toby Morrison who had it and fully recovered, it's AUS$66 a month and you sign up for a year at a time which isn't cheap but it's far cheaper than many other treatments plus you get an online community of other people recovering with an optional one to one tutoring (extra cost) over Skype - I was skeptical when I started but after seeing all the testimonials and stalking their Facebook pages for a couple months I signed up and it really helps with improving at a slow but steady rate as opposed to the usual push and crash cycle with autoimmune diseases. I'm also working with a Classical homeopath which I find definitely helps but they're expensive and can be difficult to find a good one so that's up to you.

When I first heard about this all I was hella skeptical and thought it was just a fad diet but it's really not. There are thousands upon thousands of people who've been helped by it and continue to follow it.
