Wearing a mask during labor

Hey guys, I've just been wondering how it feels to wear a mask during labor. I gave birth in 2019 without an epidural and felt that breathing in air was so important. How did you guys deal with all the breathing in and out with this on? Was it manageable? Did you feel suffocated. I really wanna know

You won’t need to wear a mask during labour

Most hospitals I know of only makes the mom wear a mask during labor if she’s covid positive, other than that it’s only when leaving the room

I was throwing up a lot during my labor so there was no way I was able to wear a mask 🤷🏼‍♀️ if I’m in a room alone with my husband 80% of the time as well as had a rapid covid test done that came out negative I don’t think I should be required to wear a mask

It’s good to hear this bc I got blasted in another group for thinking it was insane for us to wear one while trying to breathe through it. My husband was in the hospital in July and same thing only has to wear one if he left his room.

My sister had to this summer and said she honestly forgot it was there. She said after a few minutes she was so focused on everything else the mask was the last of her thoughts. I am sure it varies by person but for her she said was no big deal.

Aww well that's really good to hear! Cause it's true, there's so much going on during labor

She told us it was pretty much she had bigger things to focus on so that was the least of her thoughts. She said she forgot she had it on until she went to kiss her just born baby and it was mask haha

Oh really that's reassuring! Cause it just looks so suffocating

I had my youngest daughter last summer and I felt like I couldn't breathe so I took my mask off and if anyone said anything I literally told them to fuck off because I have a whole ass human coming out of my vagina. I did put it back on after I had my baby and kept it on for the remainder of my time in the hospital

My hospital is only requiring a mask when you're outside the delivery room.
