16 year old daughter and night clothes

So my friend has a 16 year old daughter and she asked my opinion on this situation. She said she told her daughter she shouldn't walk around in front of her husband (daughter's stepdad) with short night clothes on. Example: She says her daughter wears night shorts that are extremely short or doesn't wear a bra, or short and slinky night gowns. etc. NOT LINGERIE. She asked me was she wrong for telling her daughter not to do that. My first thought was to tell her yes she is wrong, and that she shouldn't tell her daughter how to dress because her husband, (or any man) is present. Then i thought about myself growing up. I remember my mother would tell me and my sister we could not walk around the house with our butt cheeks out and so on in night clothes. But, there was no man living in our home. Just my mom, my sister, and I. She just said it wasn't respectful and our night clothes should be worn in our rooms or when we are getting into bed. Not around the house or in the living room when we are all together. So now Im conflicted and ive never been in the situation as both my children are toddlers..Let me add she said she knows her daughter doesn't do it purposely or to get attention as she doesn't do it all the time. And her husband is a good guy. She said she has NEVER seen her husband looking at her daughter and when she walks by with something like that on he usually turns away. Any advice for her?
