What baby clothes to buy?

Question

So I’m starting to think about what clothing items were going to need for the first several months. Any thoughts or tips on what to get?
My top questions are how much are you getting in the newborn size vs the 0-3 month size?
Also how many of each thing are you getting (like how many shirts, pants, onesies, footie pajamas, etc) in each size?

I’m doing more 3-6 months and up size clothing rn bc they grow soooo fast! I am getting her basic newborn/0-3 onesies and pants but very few, just to last that size. I see more benefit buying bigger, that way she can have room to grow into what we have.

With my first I think I had 6 pajamas, 10 onesies and 10 pants in the newborn and then roughly the same amount in 0-3. Some weeks I was washing once a week and other weeks it was 3 times a week due to blow outs. I’m having another girl and I have bought 3 more pajamas in each size and I’m going to buy a few more onesies and pants. My first born was in newborn clothing for 5 week and 0-3 about 4 weeks then moved up to 3 months. You’ll also learn different brands run differently. Gerber seemed to run smaller for me than Carter’s brands.

Keep in mind this was my 3rd girl and I love to shop 😂 we have about 20 sleepers, 8 onesies, 6 or 7 outfits, and 6 pairs of pants! We don’t do socks ever under 1 so none of those! And then some stocking hats for when we’re outdoors!

I just bought 3 onesies and 3 footie pajamas in newborn size, bc my babies so far have all started off at 9.5 lbs. I got 5 each of onesies and sleepers and a couple fun onsie/dress/pants outfits for size 3-6 mo. I might need more, but I'll have help keeping up with laundry so we'll see.

The size is really hard to guess in the beginning! Our first baby was in newborn until 3 months and we ended up having to buy more NB size things. But I also know a lot of people who had their babies in 1-3 by the first month and some who had babies that skipped NB altogether and were in 1-3 from the start.

So far I have bought mainly footie body suits in nb sizes with the double zippers, it's still going to be cold where I am when my daughter is born. I have a couple of pants and onesie outfits I received as gifts from co-workers and family. Otherwise all the other outfits I bought are 3 months and up because they grow out of nb so quickly.

Depends how much washing you want to do haha! I found atleast 10 baby grows, 10 vests and ten Muslins. You can be more limited on things like ‘outfits’ it’s just the essentials to make your life easier you want more of. For such little things my god to they make a mess from which ever end it comes out of that particular time haha!

I don't technically have anything newborn other then 3 footie sleepers for the carseat, I mainly just use the gowns and socks because cloth diapers make sizing difficult. I have about 15 footie sleepers in 0-3, I've  never used individual onsies, pants and socks for simplicity sake unless it was gifted and we had an obligatory photoshoot lol. After that size, the amount explodes because my other 2 kids grew differently and we needed different seasonal things. 
Keep it simple, buy when you need it, stores aren't going anywhere (especially Amazon) so no need to stock up.
