Water breaking?

How can you tell the difference between your water breaking vs. regular discharge? TMI I’ve honestly had enough discharge to use a panty liner this last trimester, so I’m worried I’ll mistake my water breaking for just regular stuff

Waters breaking isn’t always a big gush. Waters can start to slowly leak. With my first I sat up in bed in the night and felt a bit trickle out of me. It gradually became more and more that would come out at a time, but never had a “gush”. I have had bad discharge also but I was still able to notice a difference between the two, so I wouldn’t stress yourself. Mine also had tiny specs of red blood in it, it also smelt sweet. So those are the things to look out for, that and if it’s a green/brown colour as it could be a sign of meconium

My dr said it could be either a trickle or a gush. The trickle will likely be steady as opposed to discharge and will soak through the liner quickly. So if you find you’re changing the liner frequently, it might be a good idea to call

Water breaking is a big gush. When my water broke with my first, I shifted position, felt a pop, and I was suddenly sitting in a puddle. I feel you on the panty liner thing, though! I already had to change my panties once today and put a pad in just in case when I had to go to the store.
