finally my turn!!!!
i went into my elective induction at 6 pm on december 9th at 39 weeks & 6 days. when i arrived, my cervix was still closed but i was having contractions regularly at 8 minutes apart. i couldn’t feel them so i was shocked to hear it. it took awhile to get the cyotec because the pharmacist had to bring it up. i was told i was gonna get 3 doses, one every 4 hours. well i got my first dose at about 8:30 pm and by 9:30 i was having painful contractions. they were almost instantly coming back to back with no break or relief in between. i decided to try and rock on the ball, i could only be on it for about 20-30 min before i was in unbearable pain. i was shaking, nauseous, sweating and felt like i was gonna pass out. at that point my nurse could see how much pain i was in and offered me fentanyl but told me i could only get so many doses and it wouldn’t last very long. i didn’t care, i just wanted relief. it was probably about 10:30 when i got my first dose. i instantly felt loopy and my eyes roll in the back of my head. it was great.....for about 10 min. i was back in unbearable pain and trying to breathe through the contractions but it wasn’t working. she gave me another dose then checked me. i was finally 4 cm!!! EPIDURAL TIME!!! she called right after checking me and i believe it was about 2:30 when the anesthesiologist came in. it was about a 20 min process but it worked like a charm! about 10 minutes later, i felt nothing and i almost instantly dilated to a 7. i tried to sleep since i was in no pain but the shakes were too much so unfortunately i didn’t get any sleep. at about 3:30 i noticed my right thigh was starting to ache and it was radiating into my lower abdomen. i told my nurse and she checked me again and said baby was favoring my right side and if we could get my water to break then he would center out. i used the peanut ball for about an hour but the pain started to get worse because i was feeling every contraction on my right side. a little after 4 i told my nurse i could feel lots of pressure and had the urge to poop. my nurse said she could call the doctor and just have him break my water and get things going. he got there about 4:30 and broke my water then i started to push when i felt contractions. at 5 i couldn’t stop the urge anymore and i just wanted him out!!! i didn’t care if i was having a contraction or not. 47 minutes later, my first baby was born. 5:47 am, 7 lbs 14 oz, 20 1/2 in long. greyson lucas, you saved me and i’m so excited you chose me as your mama and i can’t wait to watch you grow! you’re already so loved and spoiled! 💙
