Do you pump the excess after feeding?

Question

I’m a first time mother and been wondering if I’ve been doing the whole breast feeding thing right. 
Baby is 8 weeks old now and she’ll take a lot from one side but not always empty it. She seems to have had her fill though because she won’t ask for more for a few hours. 
I’ll pump the side that she didn’t take.
Should I be pumping both breasts after every feed or just the one she didn’t take (or took the top up from)?

I don’t pump at all unless my daughter is getting a bottle. When you pump after feeding, you’re telling your body to continue making more milk leading into an oversupply situation

you don’t have to pump at all if she is growing well on only taking one breast. Unless you have a reason to need the excess like going back to work, etc. 
Just make sure you alternate breasts but your body will adjust at making milk even if only one breast is used at each feeding. Our bodies are great at following the baby’s cues and what they take if we just allow it to work. By pumping you are making your body think your baby needs more milk. If you do decide to stop pumping do so gradually by decreasing the amount of time you pump by a few minutes each day till you aren’t pumping after nursing sessions anymore.
