Has anyone had to allergy test?

My girl had a reaction to eggs so we’re having to take her to see an allergist
If you’ve gone, how’d it go?

My son had an egg allergy. The test was simple, four little pricks on his back. It’s not painful (the doctor showed us how it would feel using a ballpoint pen). If it’s done the same way, there will be two test pricks, one with water to show no reaction and one with a histamine to show what an allergic reaction would look like. Then they should try both egg whites and egg yolks (it’s possible to be allergic to one and not the other). 
Its a common allergy and most kids outgrow it by the time they turn five. My son outgrew his within a year, but he had just a mild allergy to them. He was also able to have baked goods with egg in it as long as it was fully cooked (cakes, muffins, cookies) because the process of baking (the length of time in the oven combined with the high heat) breaks down the protein that causes the reaction. The allergist actually highly recommended we keep feeding him those things (in moderation obviously) because it could help him outgrow the allergy. He couldn’t have things like quiche or things fried with egg (fried rice if it contained egg, chicken cutlets, French toast, pancakes, waffles, doughnuts) because the protein didn’t break down as much. Oh, and be careful with ice cream! Some ice creams are made with eggs!

With my oldest we did the skin test first when he was 8 months. It wasnt terrible and he handled it well. It showed that he was allergic to a lot so I’m thankful we did it. After that we did and still do an annual blood test to check levels. He is 13 now and hasn’t grow out of any allergies (yet) unfortunately. My little girl is 6.5m now and we’re starting foods and watching her carefully for any reactions. Thankfully so far nothing.

My 19 month old has severe allergies, he has anaphylactic egg and peanut allergies we found when he was 11 months old. The allergy test shouldn’t be as bad for you baby you have to hold them on their tummy usually and wait and my son was so strong at 11 months and I was like 7 months pregnant it was torture lol. The actually pricks didn’t bother him

Just went this past week and the test itself wasn’t bad for baby but we have to go back into months because they couldn’t tell if the reaction was because my son skin is so sensitive or if he really is allergic to peanuts and milk

Our 6 month old had a reaction to peanut butter. The first thing they did was a blood draw, which was terrible. The blood test told what he was allergic to, which was a lot actually, including eggs, but didn't test how severe the reaction would be. Then they did the skin prick test on his back with all of the things he was allergic to to see how he reacted. He fussed a little bit with that but overall, it wasn't too bad. The worst part was holding him still for the blood draw.
He is now 3 and doing great. He has outgrown everything but tree nuts. But his reaction to those isn't anaphylaxis so that's good.

i don't know how it's done on babies but for me it was soo uncontrollable because you can't itch and you have to sit there for a hour trying not to itch the stuff they put on your skin
