Moving to fast...

I’m a newly single mom and I don’t have the greatest outlook on love or finding someone. I got on a dating app because I wanted to get my feet wet and see what’s out there in the dating world. I met a guy who I really hit it off with and in short amount of time like within days we were talking about a future together. I was apprehensive at first but he really made me open up and be vulnerable about the things I was afraid to want.

But when I thought things were going great, he hit me with I think we should slow things down. I was okay with that because I could see how things had gotten off pretty intensely. A couple days later he says to me that he’s conflicted because he realized that he’s not ready for a relationship due to the commitment he made to go to school.

I was a little hurt but I’ve been through rejection before and I told him we can just be friends then. The thing is, he’s still being flirty after these conversations and I don’t know what to make of it.

I’m just a little confused because he’s said things like I could convince him to be in a relationship prior to me telling he we can be friends.
