Pumping while breast feeding. Do or don’t?

FTM here. 
I just brought my 2 day old home today and have been breastfeeding. After talking to the lactation consultant at the hospital, she mentioned that I would want to exclusively breastfeed before pumping and using bottles because of the risk of baby not latching like he is now. 
I instantly knew I wanted to ask around and research up on other moms experiences. My main concern of wanting to pump and nurse at the same time was for my own sleep needs. Dad could help at nights by making bottles instead of me waking up every night every 3 hours to feed. 
Any pointers or recommendations?

You would still need to wake up to pump during those hours so to me it isn’t worth it to have dad feed baby while you pump. Easier to just breastfeed. I didn’t start pumping until 6 weeks and I only have twice so far when dad fed baby a bottle to get her used to it for when I go back to work. Pumping while your baby is so young and your milk is still regulating will just cause an oversupply, unless you’re exclusively pumping and feeding baby bottles of expressed milk.

you would still have to pump when baby isn’t feeding directly at the breast. so pretty much you’ll be up pumping while dad is bottle feeding. not worth it lol. might as well just breastfeed directly. having a bedside bassinet makes breastfeeding at night much easier.

For me I couldn’t get my daughter to latch for a good while. So I exclusively breastfed and just hung in there. My husband woke up with me every time to breast feed to help get me water etc. Pumping will actually slow down your flow immensely the lactation consultant informed me and it did for me. So I just stuck to it. We did a combo of breastfeed and formula feed a little later
