Anyone else have high blood sugar levels ????

I’m 5 weeks pregnant. But before this I’ve had several miscarriages. And recently did and A1C. Level was 6. So I bought an at home monitor and after fasting all night (12hours) it’s still 120-135. After eating 180. I am so scared it’s going to cause another miscarriage. Any one with experience that can shed some light?? Of course I just called and left a message for my doctor to find in the morning about it. Just seeing your experience while I wait

That’s very high, sounds like you either had preexisting pre diabetes , and definitely should be checked for gestational diabetes. Start the gestational diabetes diet, now- it’s essentially a low glycemic low carb diet focused on Whole Foods, low sugar and fresh fruits and veggies. Try the diet for a week and see how your numbers are. But certainly call your doctor and get in for a glucose test- it’s very bad for the baby to have uncontrolled high blood sugar- not trying to scare you (I have gd myself) but it’s frightening to say the least.. I am well controlled with a very small dose of insulin at night before bed to keep my fasting numbers down and the rest of my numbers are normal with my diet. Good luck!

I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes but that wasn’t until like 25 weeks. Definitely contact your doctor so they can either start you on a low carb diet or put you on medication. Until you hear from your doctor I’d try to eat low carb meals and snacks. Lots of veggies. My diabetes specialist had me eating less than 45 carbs for breakfast lunch and dinner with a snack between meals that was less than 15 carbs. They weren’t necessarily scared that I would go into preterm labor from high blood sugar, just mostly worried that my baby would be giant.
