Difference between going to grocery store and family gathering Covid

My Husband was trying to say that you can get Covid going to the store and there’s no point in avoiding family gatherings when you can catch it anywhere. Basically saying I need to chill out and it’s no different with us going to the store. We have a 5 month old and We don’t take our baby to the store but we would have to take her to large family gatherings. I feel like we’re more prone to catch it at large family gatherings than the grocery store because you can be in and out. What do y’all think?
