How long until I can carry the car seat with baby in it?

I had a c section 13 days ago, dr said to wait 15 days when I got discharged to drive again, so that should be around the 5th of January. What he didn’t say was how long I have to wait to lift things that are heavier than my baby? To drive I have to be able to carry the car seat to the car and I have no idea how long I’m supposed to wait to be able to do that? I totally forgot to ask at my incision check yesterday!

I've had 5 c sections.. drove home from 3 out 5 of them lol I have 6 kids and dad had to go back to work after birth so I had to carry baby do dishes laundry while carrying for toddlers. If you feel up to it then you should be fine. Listen to your body and do as much as you feel like you can. You got this momma

I’ve had a couple of surgeries and I’ve always been told not to lift anything over 5kg for 6 weeks

Lifted it if I had to because it caused pain.

Why not just leave the carseat in the car and carry baby in and out? I'm petite and carrying the car seat was too much of a pain in the butt so I just didn't ever bother taking it in and out. Worked out so much easier!
