Anyone knowledgeable in skin care

Anyone here really knowledgeable about skin care? I went to a dermatologist right before covid hit for adult acne and extremely dry and textured skin. They gave me an expensive ointment and told me to use nothing else at all. I asked what face wash and moisturizer to use and they wouldn't really give a clear answer so when I asked if cerave was okay she said fine. It's been like a year and I have no improvement. I've been to several derms about adult acne over the years and nothing has worked . My skin is worse than ever and now I not only have acne but super dry skin that has so much texture to it I looked like I've aged 10 years in a year . I'm so embarrassed by it and I have no idea what to use at this point. I've tried so many products I can't even begin to list them all.
