I’m annoyed bc I called my vet because my dog got ahold of something with a few dark chocolate chips in it and all they did was tell me to call the poison control line. Like aren’t they supposed to help me with my dog because they see her for check ups and know her best?  I’d rather pay to go there so they see her in person than to pay for a fucking phone call.

Not all vets are equipped to handle emergent situations. They probably said that because they thought poison control would offer better care

Not all vets can act as urgent care centers for situations like this. They might not have the medicine that the dog needs. So I would call the poison control center or an urgent vet clinic and they can help you better understand if you need to bring the dog in or just keep an eye on it. Most of those places offer payment plans if the dog needs to be treated.

I would just watch your dog for few days. My dog just ate chocolate few weeks ago and she was fine. Give your dog plenty of water. Good luck

Calling poison control isn’t going to cost u money. They will likely just tell u what signs to watch for, but odds are the dog is fine. My sisters dog ate an entire box of fundraiser chocolate candy bars (50 of them, wrappers and all) and he never got sick.
