Did I mess up my cycle???

I’ve always had 30-31 day cycles, very regular and predictable. I went to a doctor a few months back because I was having cramps and breakthrough bleeding, and he told me I have PCOS. Now, I didn’t/don’t have any PCOS symptoms, but an ultrasound showed many tiny cysts on both ovaries. That was the basis of his diagnosis.

He suggested that I might have low progesterone and wanted to put me on progesterone cream, but I decided that first I’d try to balance things naturally. Mind you, I did not take any blood/hormone tests, this was all just the doctor’s guess, due to seeing the cysts. In fact, I had/have zero of the low-progesterone symptoms. (Note: I am currently living in a developing country and it’s hard to find a good doctor.)

Anyway, I started on Maca every day, along with zinc, ashwagandha, dandelion root, omega 3, and evening primrose oil most days. Plus vitamin D and E, a good prenatal, and probiotics.

I’ve also quit caffeine, sugar and cut back on alcohol, dairy, and gluten. I try to sleep at least 7-8 hours per night, and I’ve stopped traveling so much for work (because of the pandemic, but I think that was hurting my hormone balance as well). I’ve always been a healthy weight so losing/gaining weight wasn’t necessary.

Well, now I’m worried because my cycle has become irregular!!! A few months ago it was 36 days long, last month 28 days and this month only 27 days!! The other weird thing is that I took an opk only once this month, but it said I was peaking (solid smiley), and that was on the 2nd of January, meaning ovulation on the 3rd. If I started my period today, that means I ovulated only 10 days ago. Shouldn’t my period start 14 days after ovulation?

Has me trying to “balance my hormones” backfired and I actually messed them up more? Perhaps they were fine to begin with? Or is this a normal part the balancing process? I’ve stopped breakthrough bleeding so much so I’m guessing that’s a good thing.

Please help, I don’t want to mess up my body, I want to balance things, and I want to get pregnant!! I just turned 38 and TTC #1 and I’m just feeling helpless.

Thank you for reading this💗 any insights will be so much appreciated🙏💓
