Nipple confusion ?? Real?

Question

First time mom here.  So I had my baby girl 4 days ago... she took to the breast very quickly. Nursed colostrum fine about 15 min/side but when we got home and my milk came in she actually decreased time and would only want a single breast before falling asleep. And she was “choking”... I’m assuming she’s getting used to the new flow. But she’s on about 7-15min at home. I feel super engorged and pediatrician said to release pressure and pump.  I have a haka and holy crumb... I’m easily getting an ounce in minutes. 
So sorry for the back story. But now that I have some milk my husband wants to help feed. The lactation consultant in the hospital said no pacifiers for at least 2 weeks and no bottles for 3-4 weeks. Pediatrician doesn’t believe in nipple confusion. 
Thoughts?  
Have super awesome husband help when he can? Or 
no, just boobie? Or. 
No pumping at all right now bc it will mess up supply?? 
Why is this so Complicated?

100000000% listen to the lactation consultant over the pedi. Pedis are NOT educated in breastfeeding at all and often give false information. 
Nipple preference is way more so a thing than confusion. This is were pace feeding is very important with breastfeeding babies. It’s a lot easier to get milk out of a bottle than a breast as bottle is continuous flow. At breast baby has to work at it. 
It is also HIGHLY recommended not to pump until a minimum of 6wks. Pumping on top of nursing can push your body into over supply and you don’t want that. Causes too many problems. 
( I had over supply with both my girls. It just sucks. Naturally over produce, wasn’t done on purpose)

100% it’s a a real thing. You must wait until your breastfeeding is established (minimum 4 weeks unless there’s an emergency etc.)
For the sake of someone having the novelty of giving a bottle it’s not worth it, or fair on your LO they are working as hard as you are to get their technique right don’t add extra elements for them to contend with until you need to

It's more about nipple preference than confusion. It's WAY easier for baby to drink from a bottle - so they can start prefer it over breast. So pace feeding is super important!! 
As for pumping I would wait minimum 4-6 weeks to avoid oversupply. And oversupply is absolutely no fun, just a ton of problems.

In my own experience... introduce a bottle right away. I waited to long and baby only wanted breast. Wouldn’t take a bottle and would just fight and scream when my hubby tried. Even 1 a day or every couple of days so she’s not getting a bottle more then breast !

Definitely wait to pump until your milk regulates (around a 6-8 weeks) but using the haaka is great. I would wait to introduce a bottle until you and baby are well established at breastfeeding. Once you do introduce a bottle make sure to use the slowest flow nipple and pace feed. It’s way easier for baby to get milk out of a bottle and that’s why they might start preferring the bottle over boob.

Are you strictly breastfeeding? 
This is my second baby, I barely breastfed my first but with my second I’m doing pretty ok with breastfeeding.
Your breast will hurt very bad if you don’t pump to release some pressure. I’m not sure if pumping affects supply. I personally only breastfeed at daytime and formula at night. 
I also gave my baby the pacifier when he’s full and fussy. It helped him calm down most of the times. So basically what I’m saying is maybe go with your guts. You know your baby best and I’m sure you will get the hang of it. I had a really hard beginning with breastfeeding especially with an inverted nipple. My son hated it and he would only breastfeed from one side but thankfully I learned to pump for a minute or two before I breastfeed him so he can latch better. It worked just fine

If you both are ok with BF, just hold on with the bottle, you would have a lot less hassle! Because milk from boobies are always ready and at the best temperature, just think about botttle cleaning, sterilising, drying, warming milk, etc... a lot! Believe me if he starts only for bottles, it means that you need to pump(15 minutes minimum) and all the process with the bottle.. try to reduce this risk! I am still feeding my son in nighttime, can’t think to get up make the bottles.. I just sit upright attach him, 5 minutes later put him back to the crib and sleep again.. I had breast engourgement, wake up at 4 to pump in order to relieved, can’t go back to sleep.. 🙄
Now my son is 3 month and half, at 2 month we introduced bottle only once a day, daddy’s feeding of the day, so he knows It’s time for bed.. and daddy and mommy are happy, that is great!

Babies are very efficient in getting milk out and might only need 7-15 minutes 
My little one however feeds approx 20-30 minutes on one boob. I burp her and if she’s still asking for more I’ll offer her one from the other breast.
To build up my supply I plan to not pump for a few weeks. I’ll just feed her on demand.

I think it’s really a preference of what you want but if you don’t plan on ebf introduce the bottle when you are ready my little guy uses the mam bottles and he’s 13 weeks. I got him to nurse in the hospital and started pumping immediately but when there’s no pump I will bf him. He will also nurse just as easy. My niece on the other hand her baby girl is 12 weeks and she ebf for the first 10 weeks and her baby gets upset with a bottle feeding but will eventually take it. So you decide what’s best for your family! It’s trial and error I wished baby’s came with an instruction Manual they’re all so different.
