Disengaged husband
I’m 13 weeks along and my husband has been very disengaged. It’s my first, his second. At first he’d talk to the baby (I know it couldn’t hear but he tried) and would ask me about how I’m feeling everyday. However, after the first few weeks he stopped asking me, he stopped talking to the baby, and is no longer interested in my doctor appointments, ultrasounds, heartbeat, or even the announcement. He said just to let him know if the baby has something wrong with it (waiting on the results of the genetic testing) because if there is I need to abort or “the marriage is over and you’ll be doing it in your own” because “I refuse to raise a special needs kid”. I feel alone in this pregnancy and can’t even rejoice in the little things. If I try to talk to him about it he just doesn’t seem interested. I constantly feel like I have to hide my excitement because of his lack of interest. Is it normal for men to disengage after a while. I was told most don’t bond with the abstract so they really start being engaged after the baby is born. Is anyone else experiencing this?
