20 week cervix open 1cm and 21 week water broke
So I went for my anatomy scan at 20 weeks 3days, I saw a specialist (perinatal) who stressed that my cervix is open and that I can go into labor soon. She suggested an emergency cerclage. I asked if there was any other option. She explained say “no, this is the only way to preserve the pregnancy” she went over all the disclaimers and that day I had the surgery. Fast forward three days later (at 21 weeks), my water broke. I did some research of hospitals and decided to go to a NICU III hospital. Who explained that they don’t resuscitate until 22 weeks. They suggested I terminate the pregnancy. I opted to stay on bedrest for a week until 22 weeks sleeping upside down (with my legs raised (above my heart). 21 days and 6 days. I started contractions (I couldn’t believe it). I asked if they could make an exception for the steroid shots to give my baby a fighting chance (especially since she was measuring a week ahead on the ultrasound). No can do. I went through labor, epidural and all. Delivered vaginally and my baby survived a few minutes before she perished. I regret the cerclage and medical intervention all together. Unless your in dire pain. Don’t go to the doctor. It’s a business. Our bodies are meant to do this. For centuries women have given birth with no medical intervention. I’m going to try again. This time. I won’t see an actual doctor until 24 weeks. What ever happens during that time. Just happens.
