When to start buying things for baby?

This is my second pregnancy but with my daughter i was broke and lived with someone else so we didn’t get anything until the baby shower. We bought 1 outfit when we found out she was a girl. But I’m 12 weeks and have my own place and job and wondering when should i start buying things? Should i wait until about 20 weeks? Or wait until i find out what I’m having?? I’m really eager to buy things but I’m not sure .
