At what age did you get rid of the pacifier altogether?

Any tips on how to get rid of it?

I cut the tip off the binkey and let my child continue to have it/hold it.
They would whine about it not working at first and I would say sorry it’s broken I can’t fix it 🤷🏻‍♀️
They kept it for a little while but eventually ditched it since it didn’t satisfy them anymore.
I thought it was much easier than cold turkey.

Frida baby pacifier weaning system was the only thing that worked. It comes with 5 pacifiers and each one is cut back further than the one before. It gives instructions how/when to use them, but you can do what you feel comfortable. If you don't want to spend the money on it, you can just cut the tip of their pacifier back every couple days. I liked this method of weaning because it was her choice, with my guidance. She didn't even get to the 5th paci. She just gave up after a few times on using the 4th one. It took just 2 weeks to get her off, and it was just before she turned 2.

My girls just decided they were done with pacifiers on their own so I personally haven't had to deal with taking it away. When I was little I was obsessed with pacifiers until I was 2.5 and my mom had tried to get me to get rid of it but nothing worked. My daycare lady recommended my mom cut the tip off of my pacifier so she cut the tip off and gave it to me and I tried it hated it and never asked for a pacifier again.

My daughter will be two at the end of the month and I plan to try and go cold turkey. Wish me luck. She had a dentist appointment in December and I asked this exact question. They said it's recommended to get rid of it around 2. She said her daughter had it until 3. She said we could try and wean her or go cold turkey it's really up to us. She said the sooner the better but it's not a huge issue and that if you notice baby start to suck their thumb or other fingers to give the pacifier back and try again later. As she put it you can get rid of a pacifier but not the fingers. Right now my girl only gets it for nap, bed, and long car rides

Our daughter was about 18ish months? She started chewing little holes in her pacifier and only used it to sleep. We just took it away cold turkey. She cried quite a bit for 3 days and when I finally tried to give her a new one to stop the crying she just handed it back to me and went to sleep. She's almost 3 now and haven't had any problems since.

My son only uses his at night time, but we plan to cold turkey take it from him at 18 months.(14now) We will probably offer him a different comfort item to switch it with like a lovey or small blanket.

My LO just turned 2, she's always only used her paci at night. We got her a big bed and will transfer her next month. Then once she's established there, we'll wean her off the paci.
