Help! PIO - vein?

Question

Hi!
I was doing my PIO injections tonight and thought I pulled back on the syringe but didn’t pull that hard. When I pulled the needle out a good amount of blood came out, way more than normal, and it kind of feels like there’s a lump there?
Wha happens if you accidentally hit a vein? Do you think that’s what happened? Has anyone had this happen?

It happens from time to time. We do the draw back method when we inject to make sure there’s not blood but sometimes I can still bleed horribly after the fact. If you take a tennis ball or something similar and roll it around the area it can help with the knots.

I don't think you got it in your blood stream. Sometimes you have more blood. I have had it spray out a few times. I get the knots like you mentioned all the time. I try to massage the area and use a heating pack. They do take me a few days to get ride of and by the time I get rid of one I'll have another, so I just sort of live with them, but avoid the area for future injections.

My husband always pulls back some and hasn’t seen blood yet, but I’ve still had a couple that were strong bleeders! One was my first shot and I ended up nearly passing out and feeling like I was going to vomit, so the doctor was fairly certain we hit a vein that day. 😂 I had to sit down for a solid 20-30 minutes before I felt normal again. Luckily that hasn’t happened since then!

This happened to me before. I freaked out because i thought I injected it in the blood stream. But the nurse and the ladies here all assured me it is fine and that it happens frequently. My husband pulls back to make sure there is no blood in syringe and then he injects . Once he did that and injected but when he pulled out the needle blood was squirting out a lot. Nurse said he might have hit a blood vessel as he pulled out the needle. Don’t worry next time this happens apply pressure on it right away so it does not lump up. Mine got bruised badly that time.
