Shingles while Pregnant

I am 31 weeks and thought I was having an allergic reaction to something but turns out it is shingles. I wont be able to see my ob yet because of the holiday but the diagnosing doctor said it can't hurt my baby but that I cannot take any of the antivirals. I'm concerned because I've read various articles conflicting with both accounts. Wondering if anyone has personal experience with this! Thank you!
