How early do you go back to work?
Hi All,
I wanted to find out who has gone back to work considerably earlier than recommended after having a baby.
I work from home all the time and even though my husband works as well I make more than he does, unfortunately I work for myself so I don’t get maternity leave or holidays so my plan was to have 3 weeks of work to have the baby and get settled at home. Also recover a bit.
My husband would have more time to take off so he offered to take over when I go back to work, although I still want to be part of the care of the baby. Especially considering I’ll be working from home I could potentially breast feed whilst working, rather than having to pump.
I’m worried that I won’t be ready to go back to work but I also worry about the financial aspects of not going so.
Anyone has any advice? Have you had a similar experience you could share with me?
I ask here because everyone I know have taken at least 3 to 4 months to go back and some even more than that but they were never in my particular situation.
Also my husband could quit his job and we would still be ok with just my salary but not the other way around, he is very capable, he is the kind of man who loves having initiative and getting things done. Never pays anyone to do a job in the house he can do, even when he doesn’t have time to do it he just gets stuff done so I have complete confidence he would be good with the baby, as he is very good under stressful situations (unlike me)
Any advice is welcomed
Thank you.
