Successful breastfeeding for 2nd baby?

Were any of you unsuccessful with breastfeeding for your first baby but ended up being able to breastfeed your second? 
I tried so hard to breastfeed to my baby but it just didn’t work out, he was losing dramatic weight and was almost hospitalized and I had to supplement with formula then I switched to all formula. Anyways, I’m going back and fourth if I want to even try breastfeeding my second since I had such a bad experience but then again I’d like to try... just nervous I won’t have a good supply again. Also I worry about feeling guilty that I couldn’t do it with my first. 
Idk I’m rambling lol I 100% agree fed is best, it’s just a personal feeling

I breastfed my first for 8 weeks and it wasn't enjoyable for anyone. We struggled. She lost way too much weight. I spent so much time crying over it. Turns out she had a dairy allergy that no one was recognising. Second baby I went into breastfeeding with so much more knowledge. I made a point to learn everything I possibly could and it made it so much more enjoyable. It was still hard work but knowing WHY things were happening made it easier. She self weaned at 14.5months due to me being pregnant again. Currently 2 weeks into breastfeeding my 3rd and aiming to make it as long as possible this time.
My advice would be, if you really want to breastfeed, know its going to be hard but research. Learn everything you can about everything there is to know about breastfeeding. But also don't put pressure on yourself...if it doesn't work it doesn't work 🤷🏼‍♀️ and you have to look after yourself too! Good luck! ❤

I wasn’t unsuccessful with my first but I just wanted to say every breastfeeding journey is different. With my first it was a challenge and learning curve but with my second it came naturally to both of us.

I had the same struggle with my first and this baby is a totally different story! She was even in the nicu for a few days and the nurses told me she would be a boob baby because she fought bottles for them so hard and asked if I’d be able to do all her day feedings at least (I was in the hospital as well). I went over for every feeding but she loves her boobies. If my 3 year old was home with us, it would be hard because she wants boob what feels like all day. However, he goes to a sitter to be around other kids and to keep his routine consistent as I go back to work next month anyway. Two days ago marked a month before I have to go back so I just started working on a freezer stash and already have 6 bags ready for her. With my first baby, I never even got an Oz saved. I will say, get a Haaka or a generic one. Totally cheap and seriously so easy. I suction it to my boob while she’s latched on the other one and it just slowly leaks into it. I get 1-2 Oz just from that, collect it in a bottle in the fridge, and then put it into a freezer bag when we hit 3 Oz (that’s how much of a bottle she’ll take now if needed). I plan to do a couple weeks of 3 Oz and then move to 4 Oz.

Yes! I was very uneducated on breastfeeding the first time around, I didn't even plan on doing it but once he was born I wanted to at least try it. So I started pumping and I could never get him to latch I guess because I started him on formula but I pumped for 2 weeks and it was just too much for me so I quit. I did a lot of research on breastfeeding when I got pregnant the second time and I'm happy to say I stuck with it!! Hes almost 11 months and he has been ebf this whole time 😊 our goal now is 2 years breastfeeding. So it is definitely possible! Just stick with it and good luck!💓

With my 5.5 year old son I only breastfed for 2 whole months but at the time I didn’t understand the cluster feeding so I thought I didn’t have enough for him.. i have many visits with the lactation person and he never latched on correctly.. I caved in after. 
With my 16 month old daughter, she had a great latch from birth but my nipples were never used to it but we pulled it through and still breastfeeding!

Yes.  My first son slowed weight gain at 2mo and by 3mo he had lost weight.  As soon as he had a bottle he refused to nurse (due to my severe lack in supply)    my second son I nursed exclusively until 8mo and supplemented another month.  For me that was a huge success considering I only got to nurse for 3mo the first time.

Unfortunately yes lol. I had zero issues breastfeeding my second. But I wished I never tried🤷🏻‍♀️

My first wouldn’t bf at all my second latched right away and bf till 18months. My third 6 months. They all had tongue ties. My third so short because we couldn’t control his reflux problems and had to be put on special formula.
