NOT announcing on Fb?

Question

Now maybe I'm just thinking too hard about this but I don't feel like I need to announce my pregnancy on Fb. I've thought about it. I've made some really really subliminal posts about it such as "I can't believe this is really happening" " 15 down 25 to go" (which could double for a 40hr work week) but the reason im so hesitant is because there are people on my list that are cool but we are not FRIENDS, I know alot of people like to gossip, screenshot an discuss your life and never say anything to you. Ive had people discuss things I've written on Fb to people who don't even have Fb! Things that wasn't even worthy of discussing, that's how I know people have no lives and they'll sit an watch but never post on their own page and never communicate with u.  I don't want to givepeople the  privilege of knowing something so special about my life for them to use as another topic in their gossip session, I want to enjoy my pregnancy as this is my first and probably last. I can't hide it forever but I feel like maybe I should keep quiet now and then Only post a picture after birth. So the people that need to be left out can actually FEEL left out. Lol am I weird for this?

FYI; a few people on my list do know because some of them are friends or family I didn't say I had a list full of strangers. so when I post those "vague" statues they like it or comment with w smiley face or something.

I don't feel like not announcing on fb is weird but I do think your vague posts are kind of odd. If you don't want to put it on there then don't but it seems like you're just trying to get people to ask. That's just my opinion though and I've never been one for the vague posts.

No. If you're not truly friends with your FB friends then I wouldn't either. My husband was the same way. He has a couple hundred friends. I did because I have about 30. And I care about them all.

This is part of the reason I don't even have a Facebook actually--so I of course don't think it's weird that you don't want to announce on there. My husband and I are super private people so Facebook isn't for us. You do what's best for you! You certainly aren't obligated to put anything on Facebook for others.

Nope that's exactly what I'm doing. I've refused to post anything on my Facebook in general cause of people like you say but I want to stay connected with family. The family on my Facebook already knows about my pregnancy so I have no issue not posting anything public. I'll post a picture of my baby eventually but after he/she is here. Not subjecting myself to unnecessary drama because people like to gossip. If everyone who needs to know already knows then that's all that matters. :)

I only post on Facebook because I'm in AZ and all my family is in NY. I like to keep all updated on what's going on with us.

I wouldn't have posted except I was going to visit DH's family for Thanksgiving and they are all big mouths. One of them would have posted something and then I would have been mad.

But all of my "friends" are friends and family.
