2 hour total labour!! 😱

2 hour total labour after a previous looonnnggg 29hour labour with my son!

I was starting to lose hope at 40w as nothing had happened yet and my first was born at 39w 6d (a day before my induction!). I was sure this baby would be earlier!

Saturday morning 30/01/21 40w 2d, my midwife came for a home visit to do a stretch and sweep (bless her!) as we were trying to beat my induction on the Monday (due to gestational diabetes). After the sweep, I went for a walk around the shops then went home and had a nap around lunchtime. At 4:30-5pm I drank the midwifes brew (recipe provided to me by my midwife), then had a bath with clary sage oil!

🌸 Birth story 🌸

At 7:30 pm I was reading my almost 2-year-old a book book before bed and noticed that I was having some mild cramping which was normal after my previous two sweeps so I didn’t think anything of it! My husband then proceeded to put our son to bed as I was feeling a little uncomfortable.

In the next 15 minutes my contractions really started to pick up (coming every 2 minutes or less and lasting for a minute!) so I had to lean over the couch and work on breathing through them. Hubby had a feeling something was up so he kept coming out to check on me ❣️

At about 8pm I decided to call my midwife to ask advise as my contractions just started at 2 minutes apart!! I wasn’t convinced I was actually in labour at this stage so she said to keep recording them and call her back at 9pm. While I was on the phone hubby could tell I was getting pretty uncomfortable so despite me saying not yet, he called my mum to come and be with the toddler so we could get ready to go to the hospital. Mum arrives about 15 minutes later and I decided I needed to poop so got up to go to the toilet and felt a pop! My water broke!

Holy moly my first contraction after my water broke had me making a lot of noise! Decided to ditch the poop and jump in the shower and hubby called the midwife (about 8:30pm). As he was on the phone I had another contraction and my body was pushing so I shouted tell her I need to push! So obviously she told us to make our way to the hospital and she would meet us there!

Contractions in the car. Ouch. That is all 😂

Anyway finally got to the hospital at about 8:55pm and hubby didn’t have time to park the car so we just pulled up close to the door and a lady nearby heard my screaming and grabbed us a wheelchair thank god because there was no way I was walking 😂

Got up to birth suite at 8:57pm Screaming and still pushing. The midwives directed us into a room where I went straight to my knees leaning over the bed, somehow managing to get my underwear and dress off in the process! Midwifes didn’t even check how dilated I was, just had a mirror underneath me and could see labial parting meaning babe was making her way down!

The midwife gave me the gas and air which did absolutely nothing but was a nice distraction! After baby Girls head was born, her shoulders got a bit stuck as she had the cord over her shoulders so after a bit of a struggle the midwife managed to pull her out at 9:34 pm,

37 minutes after getting to birth suite!

Bub came out pale and floppy from being stuck with the cord over her shoulders quite tight so the doctors were called, the cord was quickly cut and she was taken away so the doctors could give her a suction and help with her breathing. After not even a minute I heard a little cry so I knew she was ok! 💜🌸 scariest moment ever. I climbed onto the bed and the midwife brought me my baby girl and laid her on my chest.

It was great having a shorter labour this time around but it was a whole new level of pain! So intense but all so worth it to meet my daughter 💕

Here is Billie Lorraine Loveridge born at 9:34pm 30/1/21 weighing 7pounds 15oz and 50.5cm long!
