Do you guys think student loan debt cancellation should be for specific majors or have them meet a criteria?

Back story: I saw a post on fb( the image has been deleted, if I find it I’ll post it!) about cancelling student debt. It caused people to discuss who should get theirs cancelled.

Should it be any major? Or majors like healthcare, science, educators, etc. Someone made a comment about gender studies & other majors that they don’t believe should.

So my question is, should there be a criteria as to who qualifies for student debt cancellation and how much? Like are you currently using your degree?

A last example: someone said they have a psych degree but work as a retail worker because they changed their mind and didn’t want to continue on their education (graduate) but that it shouldn’t exclude her from having hers cancelled.

I personally think debt is personal and like any other (credit card, car, mortgage) you should be the one responsible to pay it back. I have a little from undergrad & my entire graduate program which I fully intend to pay.
