Old friend is in jail!!!!

Hey guys, I'm just writing this cause I have no clue how to handle this or what to do.

So this girl and I were really good friends for 8+ years. I recently stopped talking to her because if how drama infested she was and it was starting to affect my life. I'm the only one who's been there for her 2 children. One is 8 and he's very medically complicated. The other is 3 and perfectly healthy. Since our split, I haven't been around the boys a whole lot.

Yesterday I had 5 people from our little valley call and ask what needs to be done with the boys since she got arrested and is in jail. I instructed them to call their father. The 3 yr old got picked up by his father but the 8 yr old complicated boy is being bounced around between friends. (Which I know ryder isn't comfortable with considering his conditions)

I'm torn. I want to help because I've been around those children since the day they were born, but I also kinda don't wanna be involved. These kids have no family here. Just close family friends.

Hindsight is 20/20. Should I get involved or should I leave it as it is?
