Do u play with ur baby all day?!

My daughters 2 and I play with her off and on throughout the day. A lot of the time she’s doing her own thing and I’m doing stuff around the house.. but lately I feel like I should be playing with her a lot more especially if I’m home... feeling really guilty rn.. sahm do u play with ur baby all day?? What does ur day usually look like with baby? Do u have a schedule?

I wouldn’t feel too bad unless maybe you feel your daughter is developmentally behind. It’s encouraged for children to learn to play on their own. My son is 16 months and still only says Mama and Dada which worries us. We’ve had his ears checked (all is well), and we’ll be looking into getting him evaluated with ECI soon. But he does babble a lot more now that he’s walking much more independently. Anyway. Because of that, I do feel pressured to sit with him and talk to him often. He’s a bright boy. He knows his colors and shapes, and can point to objects, animals, and people when asked. We don’t do any screen time, so really our day is just reading, coloring, playing with toys, and structured play throughout the day where we focus on learning concepts. I’d love to create a more organized routine, but being so early on in my first trimester has me feeling drained. Thankfully, our son has been getting more comfortable with entertaining himself for a bit, so that helps. But I totally understand feeling a little guilty. ❤️

I mean my baby is 4 months so it’s dif but I try and encourage her to play on her own a bit too so I can get some things done! Doesn’t last long at her age tho lol. At 2 I think it’s healthy for you to give her some independent play time! I’d say play with her for periods every day but don’t feel guilty for having her play alone too! It’s good for her!

She's cool doing her own thing a lot, but we also play with blocks, paint, go outside on nice weather days (definitely not recently with this negative degree weather we've been having), cook or bake together, read, and sometimes she'll even help me clean or try to crochet with me hehe. But it's chunks of time here and there throughout the day as opposed to nonstop play

I have a 3 yr old and 2 month old. I’ll just talk about my 3 yr old since my baby is along for the ride at this point 😆 I don’t play with her all day but I do interact with her and talk to her a lot. Our general routine is get up, tv time during breakfast while I have coffee, eat, do dishes and get myself ready. Then we usually head outside for a few hours in the backyard or go for a walk and explore. She’s usually doing her own thing when we are outside and just talking to me throughout. We come in and have lunch and then her nap. After nap we do an activity together for about an hour. This is where she has my direct attention doing preschool activities, playing, reading, painting, crafts, baking, whatever.. we rotate those things. Then she plays independently while I do some chores (sometimes she helps) and start dinner and dad comes home around this time so she gets some attention from him. Dinner then we hang n talk n watch adult tv while she hangs and plays for a bit then shower or bath, tv for about half hr to settle down, then bedtime routine (prayers and books) and bed.

Mixture of both, but right now she is much more clingy so she spends more time with me than independently playing. We play toys, clean(she follows me around with a play set of cleaning stuff), she loves sitting on the counter and mixing spices while I’m cooking (I give her junky spices and she sprinkles them in a bowl and stirs them up lol ) she likes to help with dishes. She plays by herself with toys, but for the most part right now she tries to get involved in whatever I’m doing which I’m fine with. Once nicer weather hits she will do her own thing again when we can get outside!

Not at all.  Its actually very good for them to be able to self-entertain as they can develop their imagination and critical thinking which is what makes very smart and self-motivated kids.  You're doing a great job!

It depends...some days I will tell her that mammy has some work to do and I play with her in between chores and other days I just say feck the chores and we play all day...they only small for a short time! House will be there always and the chores

My daughter will be 3 on the 24th and I play with her as much as I can, but I also have an almost 4 month old son. She’s okay doing her own thing too thankfully and she likes to play with her brother.
