Schedule tips?

My baby girl is a week and 4 days old now. How young can you start a schedule for you’re infant? And how? I could use all the tips, advice and tricks please! She eats whenever she wants, sleeps whenever she wants, and I’m exhausted. I have to go back to work in 5 weeks and I would like to have a consistent schedule for her.

That’s common at this age and will be for awhile. She’ll eat and sleep as needed and it is very exhausting to start since night/day all blur together and everything is on the two-hour cycle.
I recommend the app huckleberry to give you an idea for her nap windows but for now, I’d just follow her lead with eating/sleeping.

Sleep training is not possible until 3mos. After the 1st month, you will get into a pattern/schedule. The 1st month is the hardest, everything will be completely by their stomach. They will eat 2-4oz every 2-3 hrs. That is normal and healthy. Yes you will be exhausted. That is where the phrase "I sleep when the baby sleeps" came from. If you have  family/friends that can help, take advantage when you can, even if it is just an hour or two. This is the hardest time, but stay positive and just hang in there. Before you know it, your baby will be on a more predictable schedule. My son is 9wks and sleeps through the night (7-9hrs). We have a routine every night. He is changed, swaddled, and then fed. We did the lights, and lessen eye contact, then he drifts off to sleep (if he doesn't fall asleep eating). Bath nights are every other night with lavender scented lotion, he sleeps quicker and longer those nights. Some nights will be a bit tougher when they are fussy, find a couple lullabies that they like, and a rocking chair. Totally works! Skin to skin as much as possible also helps with fussiness, breathing, bonding, etc. Don't hesitate to ask for help! Babies are time consuming and exhausting. Especially in the 1st 3 months of life. Enjoy it while you can. 🥰❤️

I would start with just tracking her needs.. when she feeds and when she sleeps. It is very helpful in trying to anticipate what your day could be like when you are away. Don’t push for a strict schedule.. that comes a lot later. What you can hope for is a pattern of sleeping and eating in cycles

After my first month, I couldn’t take the sleep exhaustion anymore! So it became my mission to get my baby on a schedule, just for my sanity! I did follow the BabyWise book, but all in all, really if you feed your baby every 2-3 hours, waking them up from naps if needed to keep that feed window schedule active, that was the best thing for us. 
At 1 month, he would wake up about two times a night, and I would let him sleep as long as he wanted in naps during the day, just because I was purely exhausted.
But I started doing feedings every 2 1/2 - 3 hours and By the time he was 2 months, he was getting all of his calories in during the day, and was only down to waking up once, by 3 months he was sleeping 8 hrs through the night, and by 4 months which he is now, he sleeps 11 1/2 - 12 hrs through the night.
No, I haven’t used the cry it out theory as some apparently think because I’m using the BabyWise book, which it definitely does talk about that, but I rather just followed his cues, and I think that helped him feel relaxed, because he knew if he’s hungry and wakes up at 2am in the morning, even now Mom is still gonna feed him. 
Just a suggestion and what worked for us! Hopefully you can find something that helps and get some sleep! 🤍

I am doing babywise for my baby. He is now 6 weeks old and has been sleeping through the night for 2 nights! At 4 weeks he started doing 4 hr stretches at night. During the day, he wakes up and gets a diaper change, eats, plays for 30-45 minutes, another diaper change if necessary, cuddles for 10-15 minutes, and then down for a nap for 60-90 minutes. When we were doing a night feeding, I would quickly change his diaper, feed, and then back down to bed immediately, keeping the lights dim the entire time. So he is eating around every 2.5 hrs, but is now pushing himself to almost 3 hrs sometimes. I am pumping exclusively so I can monitor how much he is eating at every feeding, which is usually 3-4 oz 7 times a day. First feeding of the day is at 5am and the last feeding is between 8 and 9pm. Too bad I’m still pumping at 1 am to keep my supply up, otherwise I could get a full night of sleep!

Get them full during the day by feeding on demand at your kids age. The hope is they will get full during day and sleep at night. I follow babywise schedule of eat wake sleep but there is a book u can read. Pinterest has babywise sample schedules if i retested just as a reference. Ok Instagram follow takingcarababies and she has awake windows for diff age groups as your babe gets older but that won’t start till wk 4. So my friend suggested awake after feed anywhere from 5-30 min. That could be a diaper change then nap. Or up a lol longer. Lay them down drowsy but awake for naps and bedtime. Let them learn to fall asleep on their own as soon as possible. Overnight there is no awake time just feed back to bed. U can also follow Samanthadaysleepconsulting on insta too. My dude didnt start settling in to a schedule until around 8 weeks... at 4 days its just feeding wheh theyre hungry and praying for sleep

It honestly depends on your parenting style. The most routine we have right now is bedtime at 7:30. She’s 2 months old. Other than that I feed on demand and let her sleep when she wants. Babies want to sleep when they’re overstimulated and it resets their hormone levels. 
Eventually your babe will fall into a natural rhythm and you’ll pick up on it and that’ll be your routine. I have a 1 year old as well and we follow his lead on naps. 
Some mamas love a strict schedule, others feel bad about depriving their kid of sleep (aka me lol it’s me. I feel bad) if my kids need to sleep, they sleep. That’s the way I look at it 🤷🏻‍♀️ 
Other tips: 
-Look up the safe sleep 7 if you want to/need to cosleep. That’ll educate you on how to do it safely. It’s not for everyone, but when I was desperate for sleep this is what worked for us. 
-A heating pad in the bassinet to warm up the sleeping area is very helpful. Babies often wake up when they’re put down and the culprit is often going from a warm body to a cold bed. This fixes that.

Definitely talk to HR and tell them you will do a test but I agree with some of the other posts that’s accusations and I would fell attacked too tell your HR.
