*TW miscarriage* Progesterone

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but it's something I've been wondering since I miscarried.

The night I miscarried, I went to the ER because I was bleeding and my blood work came back and they told me that my progesterone was low.

Could this have caused my miscarriage or was it low because I was already miscarrying?

Big reason why I wonder this is because we have been ttc since we lost the baby 16 months ago. Both times that I've been pregnant, it only took one cycle. I had one healthy full term pregnancy and then my 2nd pregnancy we lost the baby. Just curious if this could be why we are having a hard time getting pregnant again.
