I think the recommendation is to take it as long as your breastfeeding. Remember that baby also need D-vitamin from around 4weeks old.

Honestly, if you’re of child-bearing age and it’s POSSIBLE you could become pregnant, it’s best to stay on them and you definitely want to keep at it during breastfeeding because you still need the extra help for you and baby while you’re providing them with nutrients in any way. The most important time to be well-nourished and up on your levels is during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. If you weren’t on them for a couple months before that, you may or may not be deficient in a lot of the nutrients that baby needs in those early developmental stages and that presents a much greater risk of birth defects like spins bodies, cleft lip and palate, heart defects, etc. (sonographer here) Any decent doc would tell you that you should be on prenatals at least 3 months before conception and through the end of breastfeeding. I’ll  personally be taking them non-stop til menopause, better safe than sorry.

I was still taking mine at 17 months pp because I was breastfeeding.  Only not taking it right now because I’m too nauseated while pregnant 🤪
