Question please helpppp 😊

Ok so in the past I was dating a guy for a little over a year, never got pregnant. I'm now with someone else currently trying to conceive, so my question is, I know it can take up to a year to achieve a pregnancy but since I'm with someone new, does that year like restart or does it keep going? I didn't really try with my ex but also didn't prevent it. I hope I don't sound dumb as I have no clue how to word this lol so if anyone knows please comment below. I've been so curious about this for awhile 😌
