Fluoride water safe in pregnancy?

Is drinking tap water with fluoride in it safe during pregnancy? I’ve been reading mixed reviews and how it could lower the child’s IQ. 
If unsafe what type of water is safest?

Too much fluoride can be unsafe but community tap water is usually well regulated (more than bottled water, actually) and not a cause of concern.
If you have a private well, then it needs to be tested to make sure the limits are acceptable and if not, it has to be filtered.
Fluoride also is naturally occurring in tea and added to most dental toothpastes so if you are concerned about fluorosis, you may want to watch those too.
