Moving in together

We're Canadian and from Toronto. (This fact may give you an idea of the prices and living costs in our area haha!)

Could we afford $1600 to $2000 per month for rent?

We both work. He does makes more than me.

I bring in about $2500 per month (after taxes) and he makes about $3800 per month (after taxes)

I mean of course we have our own expenses (ex. Car payments, insurance, cell phones, credit card, etc)

But would we be ok ish in affording an apartment together??

My monthly expenses right now are about $1800 (that is my rent currently, phone, car insurance, groceries, credit payment, etc)

He still lives at home currently and doesn't really have expenses besides credit, phone, his car which is financed and car insurance which he said is about $800 per month
