Is it possible to have sciatic nerve pain at 5 wks?

I will be 5 wks tomorrow and I woke up this morning with the worst pain in my lower back/ hip area and it goes down into my butt.I’m not sure if I slept wrong or what but it sure is painful. I will asking  the dr at my appointment Monday but I am curious is sciatic pain can start this early

i accidentally hit no but i meant yes ! sciatic pain is a very common issue not just in pregnancy, any change in your body can cause the area to become inflamed

Could be. It could also be piriformis syndrome which is why I got diagnosed with early on. I thought it was sciatica until I talked to my doctor about it. Nothing too serious and she gave me some physical therapy exercises to do at home that have helped tremendously!

Usually, sciatic nerve pain during pregnancy is from the weight of the baby, and the weight of the uterus putting pressure on the sciatic nerve.
At 5 weeks, it's less likely that it's caused by pregnancy. Either way, I'd def start doing some exercises to remedy it asap bc it's not going to get any better as you get further along!

Yes, I have an increase in general inflammation as soon as pregnancy starts so then get sciatic or other nerve pain
