Can this happen??

My mom has said this since I was 15. I have anxiety and my mom is toxic and manipulative. Is this a thing? she says the minute I give birth dcfs will take my baby. I'm scared. Is she just making shit up? I live in a house, there's no danger, I have anxiety, bipolar, and depression. Someone please tell me shes making shit up.

They wont be there when you give birth and she can't make a real neglect claim until your home with the baby. Make your appointments and be willing to work with your dr about meds after you give birth to prove that claim false (most drs try to get you through a pregnancy with no meds) also if you feel like you are down or depressed in anyway seek mental help for your sake and to prove you are working to stay on the right path for your baby. Stay a step ahead of her by keeping yourself okay mentally just do your best to keep your house clean just incase she decides to call on you once baby is home

Unless your under 18 or legally under her guardianship, I don't think she can give permission to have your baby taken away because she has no rights. But there are numbers you can call for free advice from practicing lawyers, I'd look into it just to be prepared, but ignore her.

They are not going to be at the hospital waiting for you to give birth. After the baby comes home and everything your mother definitely could try and make reports on you and get you investigated by them. Wether or not they take the baby depends on what they find but most times they don’t not believe in removing children from their mother unless there’s drug use or abuse going on. You should still go to your appointments and take your prenatal for the baby sake. Your mother seems frustrated and concerned with you not seeing a dr which is understandable

Depends on your mental health history. I've seen it happen. If the hospital is informed that you have mental health issues and she tells them you are at risk of hurting or neglecting your child due to not taking your meds they could step in. CPS would have to prove that you are not fit tho. As long as you are doing the right things and take care of yourself and baby they can't keep your baby. I'd prepare for her to do what she is threatening and maybe seek help from someone outside of the situation like a lawyer or your doctor.

No they won’t take the baby away. You should look up laws because in some states since you are under her guardianship than the baby will also end up being under her since you are not an adult. That can become an issue especially since she is clearly not to happy about you having a baby. You need to look into the laws. Is the bf around? Is he going to be helping out ??

If she’s really serious she may try and fight you for rights as a grandparent if she can prove you unfit.
