Help with daughter ....again
I’m frequently asking for suggestions on how to desk with my 16 yr old daughter. She’s a great kid; quite intelligent; stubborn and has a tendency to think she knows best about everything. Anyway she got her learners permit in February.
Anyway now she’s scared to drive. Every time I say let’s go drive she panics, her eyes get wide, and she starts shrieking “I DONT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE; I DONT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE”. Well duh, I know she don’t know how to drive. That’s why I say let’s go drive. It’s odd to me because I was raised in the country, we are born driving on backroads. No one I know has acted like this. I think something terrifying must’ve happened. The day she got the permit in the mail, her grandfather insisted on taking her out. Now I can’t get her to go out.
Now that I’m writing this, I think I see the problem but give me your thoughts anyway.
My daughter is only 16 but she will be graduating next year and leaving home at 17. It’s important to her independence that she learn to drive, so please don’t say leave her alone or don’t bother her. I never want her to be dependent on anyone for a ride or anything. I always want her to be able to get in her car and leave when she wants.
