When can you start using lotion on a newborn?

My son will be 2 weeks the day after tomorrow. At the hospital they told me not to use lotion on a newborn but didn’t say for how long you’re not supposed to use it. My son has had super dry feet and I want to use lotion on them but not if it’s gonna hurt him or something. When are you supposed to start using it?

We started with aquaphor around 3 weeks but added cerave cream around 8 weeks due to bad eczema.

However, it is normal for his skin to be dry right now. His body has spent 9 months in water and is be getting used to not being in water. It should improve on its own

Ive been using coconut oil on my sons skin every since he was born. He’s 6 weeks old now and I’m sure lotion is fine to use put I feel like oil helps lock in moisture better.

I’ve been using Aveeno baby lotion since she was two months old. If baby has dry skin or eczema, it’s important to moisturize it.
You can talk to your pediatrician and they have lotion samples

I was told pure aloe vera gel or petroleum jelly were safe, but no other lotions until 6 months.
