Herpes?

So my boyfriend has genital herpes. I’ve talked with him and my gyno, and he’s taking meds to help prevent breakouts. My dr says as long as he doesn’t have a sore during sex I won’t get it. It makes me feel better knowing this but I’m wondering if anyone else is in the same position as me￼, and how you feel about it and maybe how long you’ve been with ur partner and not getting it.

My cousin and his wife have been together for 15? years and married 2 of those years. She got herpes as a teen and he’s yet to get it to this day. They also just welcomed their baby girl last year too and she delivered vaginally with no issues.

i’ve been talking to this guy for a couple weeks and he told me before we met that he had herpes. he said he was on meds and only had one breakout but wanted me to know so i could decide if i wanted to risk it. i did a lot of research and realized that it’s one of the most common STIs. most people don’t even know they have it. is it scary to think that i could possibly get it? yeah. but we had sex last night and boyyyyy i don’t regret it one bit lol
