Ultrasound 6-7 weeks?

Hey y’all so I recently found out I was pregnant Monday! About 6 weeks, I want to go get an ultrasound but my OBGYN says I can’t get one until I’m 8-10 weeks. Is that normal? I really want one😩 is there somewhere i can go too get one??

They prefer to wait so as not to scare you. That early they don't always see baby right away. If you wait you have more chance of seeing baby with a healthy heartbeat. 
With that being said. Yes there are places that will do elective ultrasounds early on. They can be hard to find though.

Anywhere between 8-12 weeks is totally normal. Anything before 8 weeks is usually only done if you get a private scan, have a history of miscarriages, do IVF, etc. many have to wait until 11/12 weeks so 8 weeks is great! 
If you go before, it’s common that you don’t always see a baby or a heartbeat. It’s so so common to not be quite as far along as you think (ovulate earlier, it takes longer to implant, etc) and it can totally freak you out and add so much stress if they can’t find a heartbeat just because it’s too early. It’s such a hard wait (I had to wait 5 weeks before first ultrasound with both my pregnancies) but the wait is worth it!

That’s normal. I didn’t have one until 9 weeks with my first. I’ll have one at 8 weeks with this one.

They dont usually do one that early unless you're really high risk or there's a chance of it being ectopic. You dont want it to be ectopic 😰😬. So early on they would have to use a transvaginal ultrasound which is more invasive, higher risk and really just unnecessary so early on. Dating ultrasounds are usually when its estimated to be 9-12 weeks along.

They won’t see you until at least 8 weeks so that you are likely to see a heartbeat, earlier you may not and it would cause more stress. Most elective places (like the one here) won’t see you their later because they only do abdominal so they won’t see you until 12 weeks at the earliest
