Having sex in the break week

I'm 19, and on the microgynon combined pill. I know I should know this but I've only recently become sexually active, even though I've been on the pill for over a year. Anyway, how does it work with having sex in the break week? Should I use condoms or am I still protected during this time? Thank you ladies xxx
