I dont want to spank my kids...

So baby isn't even born yet but of course I'm day dreaming of life as a parent and what kind of mom ill be.

I know this: I don't want to spank my kids.

No judgment placed on anyone who does. But scientific and medical research says spanking doesn't work.

So my question is: if you don't spank, what do you do instead?

I also don't want to yell (is it possible?!) And I just don't want to be my parents. They spanked and hit and yelled and I was terrified of them. Lied a lot to not get in trouble and now we don't speak hardly.

Any advice?
