Braxton hicks to contractions?

Question

So for those that have had a baby, did labour start off as braxton hicks and then turned into painful contractions?
Or did you know straight away it was a contraction ? 
I get so much braxton hicks but just waiting for them to be painful..

My Braxton hicks will always start at the front with tightening pain but as for my contractions it will begin at the back and gradually move to the front and you'll start to feel it go more tense etc.
When i had both my girls my contractions starts just after 6am

Mine were painful Braxton Hicks which I’d never had before. I googled and found that contractions felt like that! They were mild to begin with and then started to hurt a lot more

No. My labor started out with regular contractions that got more consistent and painful. I knew when it began it was time because it get different.

Yes both of my labors did. But very early labor can feel just like Braxton hicks.

My contractions weren’t painful. They were just uncomfortable. They might not get painful until later. Felt like mild period cramps at first with tightening. And I went in because they were continuing. My nurse said I’m probably not in labor because I was talking through the contractions, but she checked me and said oh yeah you are in labor.
